Release agents ensure that you'll get crisp edges for any concrete stamping or texturing project. Also known as bond breakers, release agents prevent concrete from sticking to the concrete stamp, seamless skins, or textured rollers when the stamp is released. Whether you are a contractor or an experienced DIYer, release agents ensure an exceptional result whether the surface is horizontal, vertical, or curved.
Stamps
Stamps. Concrete provides a longer lifespan and increased durability over natural rock, asphalt, and pavers. We offer a huge selection of concrete stamp designs to please homeowners and commercial businesses. Stamped patios, decks, walkways, and stairs offer long, virtually maintenance-free lifespans — owners especially appreciate no weeds growing in-between concrete compared to stone pavers.
Skins
Skins. Seamless skins are ideal for projects that call for a more subtle texture. Skins offer continuous natural-looking textures, simulating a large stone plateau. Skins are ideal for driveways, floors, pool decks, and other projects that need a cost-effective solution. Skins are lightweight, durable, and reusable and come in slate, stone, and wood grain patterns.
Rollers
Decorative concrete rollers are the perfect solution when your project includes long runs of concrete borders or curving borders. We also offer rollers for DOT projects that are relatively narrow (8-10 inches) and continue for a long distance. We offer seamless rollers in 9, 18, and 24 inches wide widths. Roller patterns include worn brick, cobblestone, slate, and more!
Liners and Inserts
Liners and Inserts. Concrete form liners allow you to fill the formwork and remove the forms unveiling a fully-textured surface that stands up to use. Contractor Source offers highly detailed urethane liners that produce deep, realistic textures. We offer a large variety of forms and inserts including:
The release product that you choose depends on the details of your concrete project.
Use a liquid release agent when you want a plain surface or work around sensitive areas, like a swimming pool or indoors.
Choose our Powder Accent release for most outdoor projects — where powder residue won't be that much of an issue because it can be rinsed off with a hose. Powder accent creates more dramatic color accents, and the hydrophobic powder is broadcast on the concrete surface before stamping. This product can be used with Tru Hue integral colors or Walttools Dust on color hardener to create subtle or dramatic color contrasts.
Powder (accent) release agent comes in 25-pound pails and is available in 20 colors. It can be used over concrete colored with integral color or color hardener to create antique or special effects.
Avoid homemade recommendations from an internet search if you're looking for professional results. From cooking spray to olive oil or diesel oil, don't risk the outcome of your next concrete project with DIYer's homegrown advice. Not only will the project outcome be compromised, but you may permanently damage your stamps or skins.
Experts recommend using a concrete release agent when using a form, stamps, skins, rollers, liners, or inserts. Not only does it break the bond between the mold and the concrete so that your work is easier, but release agents protect your molds, stamps, and skins to ensure crisp edges and long service life.
Concrete release agents are available in liquid or powder format. Each offers advantages and disadvantages.
The liquid release is ideal for indoor areas or near a swimming pool where you don't want to risk a potentially messy powder release. Some concrete contractors prefer liquid because it's easier to work with, and the clean-up is simpler because the liquid evaporates and there is less cleanup the next day. Liquid release is a must if planning to use Tru Tique color wash to provide your accent color after the textured surface initially cures A process that is gaining popularity mroe and more each year.
Many contractors and experienced decorative artisans prefer powder (accent) release agents for outdoor projects to prevent stamps from sticking to fresh concrete. An advantage to powder is easily adding color to any stamping project, and powder produces a cleaner imprint design and many more color choices.
Our powder concrete release agent is a hydrophobic powder broadcast across concrete before stamping. Hydrophobic powder repels water in the concrete so that the concrete cannot form a bond with the stamp, skin, or overlay. Our liquid release agent is petroleum-based and therefore slippery so that the wet concrete won't stick to the stamp or form.
The liquid release is sprayed onto the form while the powder is brushed on the stamp, broadcast on the concrete surface, and then evened out with a dry brush.
