Walttools 4″ chiseled slate step insert is one of those pieces that gives concrete a truly finished, high-end look without much effort. The texture is crisp, natural, and full of detail, leaving behind the appearance of hand-split slate that is difficult to tell from the real thing.
Designed to fit a nominal 2″ x 4″ form with an actual height of 3.5″, this insert is a very versatile option for a wide range of decorative concrete applications. It works great on patio and driveway edges, bold countertop edges, seatwall caps, and even as a finishing cap for Walttools firepit liners. With up to 3/4″ of relief, it provides strong texture without being too bulky, and the detailed ends help it run nearly seamless from piece to piece.
At approximately 8 feet long, it is easy to lightly caulk or tack to the outer form and can be reused many, many times. The result is a realistic chiseled slate edge that brings lasting detail and a natural stone look to projects where plain concrete just would not be enough.
