Contractor Source — Experience and Expertise
Because our team consists of concrete professionals, we only stock the highest quality products for every job. Trends differ from coast to coast, and we've got you covered. Here's a sampling of our vast array of concrete products.
Stamps. Labor costs can skyrocket when your hardscape design includes laying uniform bricks, stones, pavers or tiles. Concrete stamps from Walttools can help save time and materials by utilizing our high-quality concrete stamps. Our stamps help you create such accurate impressions that homeowners and visitors will ask themselves if it's concrete or the real thing.
Design choices are extensive — no matter the size of your project. We offer brick, slate, cobblestone, and wood. Specialty styles include fossil stamps, compass and celestial star, and border stamps. Stamps come in sizes up to 8 feet. The distinct patterns will last for years, even with daily use.
Skins. Concrete texture skins are an affordable way to add subtle texture to your next concrete project. Skins offer a continuous, natural-looking texture without leaving a pattern. Your result will look like one large stone plateau — a perfect choice for patios and pool decks, driveways, and interior surfaces. Patterns include stone, slate, wood grain, an end-grain pattern, and even a sea floor design. Why are concrete texture skins are increasing in popularity, both among contractors and DIYers? Skins are lightweight, durable, and reusable. We offer seamless and border designs. Skins provide a budget-friendly alternative for contractors and their clients as well as homeowners looking to add texture to their next home improvement project.
Coloring Products. Coloring products transform the simplest concrete product into a project with style, personality, and warmth. There are several choices — integral color, a pigment mixed into the concrete before pouring, or color hardeners, which color the top layer of concrete and slightly fortifies the surface. There's also an option for concrete after it poured and finished — stains and dyes. Either type can be used on outdoor or indoor concrete.
Sealing Products. Concrete sealants help ensure the longevity and appearance of your concrete project. Concrete absorbs moisture that contains minerals, and those minerals can cause your concrete to crack or corrode over the years. Concrete is also permeable and may become stained from leaves, tassels of nut trees (pecan, walnut, oak), or other substances that fall onto your concrete. Sealers are best applied after 28 days after your concrete is poured and after any stains or dyes. When used outdoors, sealing usually lasts 1-3 years, but some products last ten years. For indoor surfaces, you'll usually only need to seal once. Contractor Source offers a full range of regular and stamped concrete sealers for your specific needs.
Depending on the shape and location of your project, you may need a floppy/flex stamp (pliable so that it can be bent) for along a wall or other tight area. To fix/repair an area that was missed or applied improperly, you'll want to get a touch-up skin (about 14 inches) of a similar-textured material without a grout line to fix/repair an area that was missed or applied improperly. Be sure to get a release agent to prevent the stamps from sticking to the concrete. If it's hot or windy, be sure to get some of our "Tru-Slik" product that slows down evaporation to allow you more time to stamp.
Then you’ll want the appropriate hand tools from Walttools. These include: a hand groover, joint saw, point trowel, and hand pads.
Decorative concrete projects needs a wheelbarrow, some type of mixer, vapor barrier, square-edged shovel, tape measure, level, screed, a float, groove cutter, tamper, knee boards, buckets, and personal protective gear – rubber gloves and boots, safety glasses, and knee pads. It's always good to have basic power tools on hand too.
Hand floats and finishing trowels are the tools you'll need to create a smooth surface on your concrete.
Hand floats should be used when your palm imprint is approximately 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch deep. There are three types of hand floats, each with a specific purpose:
Finishing trowels are ideal for interior projects — they produce a perfectly smooth finish. These trowels should be used when the indentation of your palm is 1/8 inch deep. A finishing trowel resembles a hand float, but it has a large, flat, rectangular, or round blade explicitly designed for creating the smoothest finish possible.
Safe precaution: Be sure to wear rubber gloves when testing the readiness of the concrete to protect your hands from burns caused by wet (even slightly wet) concrete.
Commonly-used concrete tools include:
But no matter what you call them, they are essential to a professional-looking end result.
There are a few basic tools you'll need for every concrete job.
Depending on the size of the project, you might need some power equipment. If your project is decorative in nature, you'll also want need stamps, skins, rollers, and coloring products. Most projects should also be sealed to help prevent wear, pitting and discoloration.

One of the major advantages of concrete is low maintenance. When calculating the overall cost-of-ownership, concrete's low maintenance lowers your costs because of longer service life and less maintenance.
Concrete wins when selecting the material for driveways, patios vertical walls, and pool decking. With pavers, you're likely to experience grass and weeds peeking up between the pavers after a few years. Pavers may loosen over time and are difficult to clean. Treated lumber requires annual maintenance and seldom retains its new look for very many years. Concrete patio seating walls will never require annual maintenance like pressure-treated wood seating.
Concrete interior floors that are properly sealed are very low maintenance — only sweeping and a damp mop keeps them looking brand new.
